The PDA Experience CARDIFF

  • Cardiff Quakers 43 Charles Street Cardiff, CF10 2GB United Kingdom (map)

A chance to hear from Harry Thompson (and friend) in Cardiff!

About this Event:

By courtesy of the Cardiff Quakers, Harry Thompson and Nicola Reekie (PDA Mum), The PDA Experience is coming to Cardiff!

Join Harry Thompson and PDA mum, Nicola Reekie, for talks and conversations on the topic of Pathological Demand Avoidance - a behaviour profile within the autism spectrum. Never an easy topic, but expect an enlightening and honest account of life with Pathological Demand Avoidance.

The day will be kicked off by the very eloquent author and speaker (and adult living with PDA), Harry Thompson, who will deliver a talk whereby he will offer unique, descriptive insights into PDA from a first person perspective. This will be followed by a Q & A session where you will have the opportunity to ask Harry whatever you want.

Following Harry's talk, Nicola Reekie (mother of a PDA boy) will share what has helped strengthen her as a mother of a child with a - at times - challenging neurotype; namely, the benefits of self-growth. Nicola emphasises the importance of her keeping a positive outlook, and lots of self-care in order to keep her bucket full and not empty. From journaling, to meditating, to an array of holistic therapies and practises, Nicola has a lot to offer when it comes to developing resilience.

There will be opportunities to network after the event and purchase a copy of Harry’s new book, The PDA Paradox - The Highs and Lows of My Life on a Little-Known Part of the Autism Spectrum.

Doors open at 10.30AM for an 11.00AM start. The programme will finish at around12.15PM, with refreshments and an opportunity to meet and chat with the speakers afterwards.

We do hope you are able to make this wonderful opportunity to engage with some of the people who are most able to explain how life works - and doesn’t - with Pathological Demand Avoidance.

*If you are a parent hoping to attend, and you are planning on bringing your child, please note that our cut-off age for under 18s is 13 years old. Thank you.*
